1) Greetings - Welcome four new IMFTF Committee Members:

Dr. Abd Rashid Abd Aziz, from Mechanical Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia;

Dr. Cem Sarica, from McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering, The University of Tulsa, USA;

Dr. Jian Su, from Nuclear Engineering Department, COPPE, Federal University of Rio Janeiro, Brazil;

Dr. Wei Yan, from Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark.

             Four new members received a warm welcome from all the former IMFTF committee members.

Cem Sarica: “Industry Supported Flow Assurance Research Activities at the University of Tulsa”

Content of presentation:

- Brief self-introduction

- Interpretation of Flow Assurance

- Introduction to current academic activities / TUFFP projects, including upscaling studies, oil viscosity effects on two-phase flow behavior, methodology for closure relationship selection, two-phase flow induced vibration in pipes and fittings, impact of multiphase flow on internal corrosion of large pipelines, and so on

- Show example projects from TUFFP: 1) high viscosity oil and air two-phase flow; 2) upscaling study

Jian Su: “Two-phase Flow and Heat Transfer”

Content of presentation:

- Personal background: education, experience, collaborators, etc.

- Research topics, including stratified flow, plug flow, Taylor bubble, Leidenfrost Phenomenon

- Introduction to lab instruments, experimental techniques and results

- Other research topics including building a vertical and deviated tube rig; all flows regime in horizontal and vertical rigs, with a new compressor with higher flow rate; results on slug flow in horizontal and inclined tubes to be published; two-phase natural circulation, experiments and modeling, fixed and under rolling motion; safety analysis of research reactor and SMRs, etc.

3) More activates – discussion on future plans for IMFTF:

1. Two other new committee members will give presentations during next IMFTF online meeting, which may be open to the audience to improve the impact of IMFTF.

2. IMFTF 2021 is suggested to be held face-to-face & online in September of 2021.
