Overview
To further optimize the discipline layout and speed up the construction of the “Double First-Class” strategy, on November 26th 2018 the University established College of Safety and Ocean Engineering integrating the original Department of Safety from College of Mechanics and Transportation Engineering, Department of Ocean Engineering from College of Petroleum Engineering and the Institute for Ocean Engineering (IOE).
Till now the College has two departments (Safety Engineering, Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering), two PhD-awarding branches (Safety Science and Engineering, Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering) and six Master’s programs (Safety Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering, Design and Manufacture of Ships and Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering).
The College has 16 professors, over 30 associate professors and other full-time teachers. At present, it has 380 graduate students and 465 undergraduate students, making it the largest ocean engineering research group in China, which provides fully developed, internationalized and engineered and qualified personnel for enterprises continuously.
