Engineering, the main journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), published a special issue on "Unconventional Oil and Gas and Intelligent Oil and Gas Engineering" recently. Academician Li Gensheng, Academician Chen Zhangxing and Academician Sun Jinsheng from China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Drilling Engineering Technology Research Institute were the co-editors-in-chief of the issue, and Professor Rui Zhenhua was the executive editor of the issue.

The topic focuses on the latest research results and progress in new theories, new technologies and engineering practices in the field of unconventional oil and gas intelligent and green development. The topics cover intelligent drilling and completion, drilling and completion fluid systems, new reservoir simulators, CO2 enhanced recovery and geological storage synergistic technologies, new concepts and models of engineering management, etc.. The topic includes 11 articles by internationally renowned scholars from five countries: China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The authors of the articles work for well-known universities and enterprises at home and abroad, including Stanford University (USA), University of Texas at Austin (USA), University of Cambridge (UK), University of Alberta (Canada), Monash University (Australia), China University of Petroleum-Beijing, China University of Petroleum (East China), Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED), and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec)., and include 10 domestic and foreign academician.
