From 27 July to August 4, a delegation of nine teachers and students from China University of Petroleum (CUP) was invited by Gubergin State University of Oil and Gas in Russia to participate in the 2024 China-Russia Union of Engineering Universities Summer Camp on Energy and Sustainable Industry Development.. The camp featured a variety of activities, including themed lectures on energy and industry, visits to petroleum companies, exchanges between Chinese students and foreign students, and tours of Moscow’s cultural landmarks. This delegation marked CUP's third team visit to Russia in the summer of 2024.At the opening ceremony, Alexander Fyodorovich Maksimenko, Vice Rector of International Affairs at Gubkin State Petroleum and Gas University, delivered a speech which emphasized that the strong relationship between Gubkin University and China University of Petroleum extends beyond scientific research collaboration to include cultural exchange. He highlighted that Gubkin University consistently encourages students to collaborate and communicate with their Chinese counterparts. Maksimenko also noted that the summer camp not only provides participants with knowledge on green energy development, but also fosters friendships and long-lasting relationships.
During the five-day program, participants attended several themed lectures covering topics such as an introduction to Gubkin University, energy law in the Russian Federation, energy commerce, carbon storage technology, and the application of AI in the energy sector. Each camp participant expressed that they had gained valuable insights from the experience.
