In the early July, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement and the unveiling ceremony of Joint Oil and Gas AI Innovation Center (Innovation Center) between the China University of Petroleum- Beijing (CUP) and Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. (Huawei) have been held.

Li Tongguang, vice president of Huawei China government and enterprise, congratulated the CUP on its great achievements in personnel training, scientific research and discipline construction after CUP introducing presentation. Mr Li said that Huawei certainly cherishes the cooperation opportunities with CUP as it is the birthplace of ground-breaking scientific and technological achievements and the cradle of cultivating top talents in oil and gas field. He also expressed that Huawei has always paid attention to the development of the oil and gas industry and Huawei hopes to apply the leading technologies accumulated in 5g, AI, big data and other fields to help to solve the difficulties in exploration and development as well as the high production cost of the oil and gas industry.

The president of CUP Prof. Zhang Laibin pointed out that CUP mostly values the collaboration with Huawei. He wishes both parties will take this collaboration opportunity as a key point to carry out the basic research and applied basic innovation research in the emerging fields of oil and gas AI to contribute to the development of digital transformation and intelligent development of the oil and gas industry through Innovation Center which will integrate digital technology and oil and gas scientific research advantages of each party.

Prof. Zhang said that Huawei experts were welcome to lecture to our students through the Innovation Center to participate in the university's top talent training, especially in the training of oil and gas artificial intelligence undergraduates and doctoral students, to explore and build a new model of institution enterprise cooperation. At the same time, CUP also invited Huawei to participate in the construction of smart campus to bring Huawei's new ideas and technologies into the campus for the teaching, scientific research and personnel training.
