  From April 25 to May 1, 2019, Vice President Li Gensheng visited Colleges and enterprises in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, including Khalifa University of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Corporation of the United Arab Emirates, CNPC International Middle East Company, Abu Dhabi Center of PetroChina Exploration Institute, King of Saudi Fahd University of Petroleum and Mining, Saudi Amy Company and Sinopec Middle East Research and Development Center. The visiting delegation is comprised of relevant persons from the Department of Science and Technology, the International office and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence.

  

  In the United Arab Emirates, Li Gensheng and his delegation met with Dr. Arif Al Hammad, the president of the University of Halifah in the United Arab Emirates, Steve Griffths, Vice-President of Scientific Research and Ahmed Al Shoaibi, Vice-President of Teaching. The two sides held talks on deepening cooperation under the framework of the Worldwide Energy University Network, and reached a consensus on building joint laboratories of artificial intelligence disciplines, jointly applying for the International Fund of Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Corporation, launching joint undergraduate internship and graduate training projects, and hosting summer schools of the Worldwide Energy University Network. After the meeting, Li Gensheng and his delegation visited the ADNOC Innovation Center of the Institute of Petroleum, the Micro-nano Preparation Cleaning Room and the Electron Microscope Laboratory of Masdar College. They also visited CUPB alumni who are currently working and studying here. After that, they witnessed the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Branch of CUP Middle East Alumni Association.

  In Abu Dhabi National Petroleum Corporation (ranking No. 17 of the World Petroleum Corporation), Li Gensheng and his delegation met Khadija Al Daghar, Vice President of the Research and Technology Department of the company's Science and Technology Center, and visited the company's Tamama Research Center. The two sides discussed staff training, personnel training, production, education and research. The company said it would send exchange students to CUP in the future.

  Li Gensheng and his delegation also visited CNPC International Middle East Company and Abu Dhabi Center of CNPC Exploration Institute. The two sides agreed to actively implement CUPB's comprehensive strategic cooperation with CNPC and conduct overseas business cooperation in the fields of scientific research and personnel training.

  In Saudi Arabia, Li Gensheng and his delegation held talks with Khaled S. Al-Sultan, President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mining, Nasser M. Al-Aqeeli, Vice-President of Scientific Research and Mesfer M. Al-Zahran, Vice-President of Teaching. The two sides introduced their respective development history, subject characteristics, teaching and scientific research and other basic situations. Li Gensheng introduced the operation of the Worldwide Energy University Network initiated by CUP and welcomed King Fahd Oil and Mining University of Saudi Arabia to join the network. Subsequently, the two sides exchanged views and reached cooperation intentions around the joint training of postgraduates, teacher exchanges, scientific research cooperation and other related issues. A senior delegation from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mining will pay a visit to CUP this year to speed up cooperation between the two universities.

  In the R&D Center of Saudi Arabian Amy Company (No. 1 in the ranking of World Petroleum Company), Li Gensheng met with Ashraf M. Al-Tahini, General Manager of this center, and other representatives to discuss the cooperation agreement signed between the school and Saudi Amy Company last year and the concrete implementation measures. At the invitation of Sinopec Middle East Research and Development Center, Li Gensheng and his delegation also participated in the "KFUPM-SINOPEC Innovative Technology in P.E. Workshop" (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mining of Saudi Arabia-Sinopec International Symposium on New Technologies in Petroleum Engineering). Li Gensheng delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and awarded the speakers.
