Experimental and theoretical techniques have been developed to accurately determine phase behaviour and mass transfer of solvent(s)-CO2-heavy oil systems at high pressures and elevated temperatures. In addition to a new alpha function, theoretical models have been developed for accurately predicting binary interaction parameter (BIP), equilibrium interfacial tension, saturation pressure and solubility, minimum miscibility pressure, and multiphase boundaries, respectively. A novel methodology has been proposed to determine diffusion coefficient for a gas mixture in heavy oil as well as for each individual component of the gas mixture in a non-volatile liquid. Also, a generalized methodology has been devised to couple heat and mass transfer of a gas-heavy oil system and a gas mixture-heavy oil system at high pressures and elevated temperatures, respectively.
