Business Administration
1. Program Objective
This program airs to cultivate outstanding managers and leaders with broad international perspectives, solid management knowledge as well as strong analytical capacity and comprehensive management skills to solve practical problems.
In detail,
(1) Students are required to master Marxism-Leninism, MAO Zedong thought and Deng Xiaoping theory, follow scientific outlook of social development and correct view of the world, have deep love for the motherland, observe law and discipline, and actively serve the socialist modernization.
(2) In addition to master broad and solid basic theory and specialized knowledge, students are required to grasp scientific method of management to solve practical problems, especially problems in oil industry. With strong analytical skills, graduates are capable of conducting independent research and making creative achievements.
(3) With strong foreign language ability, students can skillfully use at least one foreign language for academic research and communication.

Prerequisite courses
Prerequisite courses are those not taken by students who are not economic and management major. Prerequisite courses are not counted in credits but recorded in transcript. Students who are required to take prerequisite courses but do not take or those who fails the courses can not defend their thesis. Prerequisite courses can be chosen from the above form. They can also be other courses chosen by the supervisor according to personal situations of the students.
3. Graduation & Degree Requirements
A student is admitted to get the degree of Master having met the following requirements:
(1) Satisfactory completion of all required core and elective courses;
(2) Satisfactory completion of the research requirement;
(3) Satisfactory completion of thethesis.
Detailed requirements
- Literature Review and Thesis Proposal
Students in general should complete the proposal defense before the third semester.
Thesis proposal should be limited in the range of academic subjects. Thesis proposal should include the introduction, background, the current situation and development trend of relevant researches, research objective and content, methodology, feasibility analysis, expected key technologies and difficulties, thesis detailed research progress, primary references and so on. Each master student must read at least 30 relevant research papers before proposal defense, where the number of foreign references is at least 10. The report needs to be written based on the requirement of graduate school and department on literature review report pattern, which consists of at least 6000 words. During the proposal presentation, the literature review report is evaluated by committee group.
Literature review and proposal report is evaluated by advisor (group), the committee group has 3-5 persons, including advisor and teachers from related research field. The committee group needs make strict review on the literature review and proposal report, and give the comments. The advisor makes grading by percentages, after considering the committee group’s opinions. Students whose scores are above 70 can be recorded as pass and given one credit. Teachers and master students are encouraged to attend the proposal presentation. Advisors in related research field should be invited to attend the interdisciplinary proposal defense. Students who fail in the research proposal report are allowed to restart a new proposal or asked to quit, both determined by the supervisor. Students who want to restart a new proposal should submit applications and get approval by the supervisor and the original committee group. The restart should be completed within one month.
- Research activity
Master students are required to attend more than 10 research activities and submit written reports, which are evaluated by the supervisor. The evaluation of the research activity performance must be completed before oral defense. The report is consist of two parts: 1) brief summary of all the research activities attended; 2) detailed summary and related comments of the main research activity. The report should be 3000-5000 words and evaluated by the supervisor.
- Thesis defense
The thesis defense of master students needs to be carried out following《China University of Petroleum (Beijing) on Degree Granting Provisional Rules for Implementation》.
4. Career Prospects
This program prepares advances professionals for careers in universities, research institutions, enterprises or government agencies.
