3. Graduation & Degree Requirements
The minimum credits for Geology Phd degree is 16, of which 13 credits for degree courses and the rest for non-degree courses.
4. Career Prospects
Graduates majoring in Geology are highly recruited in the energy industry in China.
Along with their degree work, a vast majority of students participate in the various opportunities through the various oil companies across the country. Most of them work with internship for around or more than one year in the oil companies (future employers).
Graduates gain the skills needed to work in a variety of large corporations and government agencies. Students find jobs as petroleum geologists to lead a team and to analyze data to aid in locating and retrieving oil in the best China state oil companies including CNPC, SINOPEC, and CNOOC. They also work as geologists or advisors in the international oil company including BP, Shell, ExxonMobil and etc. Additionally, graduates go into policy roles in the governmental organizations, for example, the Ministry of Land and Resources of the PRC China. Basically, the college has very high job placement rating, and graduates receive among the highest starting salaries in China.
