The essence of intelligent oil and gas fields is the digitalization and intelligence of oil/water/gas wells. Based on the current situation of oil and gas production in oil fields, a technical framework of intelligent oil and gas production is proposed, which consists of four basic elements: data sensing, data transmission, key equipment and technology, and data fusion. Data sensing comprehensively senses the status of oil/water/gas wells through sensing and information units distributed throughout the wellbore and surface equipment. Data transmission is achieved through the wellbore, well site, and remote transmission networks to interconnect downhole and surface nodes of oil, gas, and water wells, achieving reliable data collection and command delivery. Key equipment and technologies integrate sensing, communication, control and other functions to form a hardware foundation suitable for the oil and gas development environment and production process. Data fusion is a system of production operation optimization analysis and intelligent decision control, which is based on data and with an artificial intelligence model and algorithm as the core, so as to achieve optimal oil and gas production. Based on the framework of intelligent oil and gas production technology, the technical status and specific content of the above four basic elements are analyzed in detail. The vision and goals of full intelligent oil production and whole-life cycle intelligent gas production are described respectively. The research and construction of intelligent wells in oil and gas production is generally at the stage of single well application and scattered construction. The block construction and application have just started, and the intelligent hardware applications are characterized by being patchy and small scale. The development of software technology lags behind, the data fusion model is scattered, and the collaborative application is seriously insufficient. The following intelligent development suggestions are proposed in this paper: the top-level design planning of oil fields, the construction of intelligent demonstration zones, and the framework of an intelligent oil field production management platform. The process of digital transformation and intelligent development is divided into three stages: construction of demonstration zones, expansion of the scale, and comprehensive application.
