1) Petroleum Engineering faculty member Dr. Yin Zhang was tenured and promoted to the position of associate professor.
2) Petroleum Engineering adjunct professor Dr. Samson Ning was the recipient of the Regents’ adjunct award; he was recognized on August 16, 2019 by UAF Provost Prakash.

Funded research projects (alma mater connections with CUPE and CUPB):
Over a period of four years the project led by UAF will investigate the first-ever polymer flood for heavy oil resources on the Alaska North Slope in the Milne Point Field. The research team includes UAF, Hilcorp Alaska LLC, New Mexico Tech (NMT), Missouri University of Science & Technology (MST) – Dr. Baojun Bai, and University of North Dakota (UND) – Dr. Dongmei Wang. The project’s overall Co-Principal (Co-PI) and Principal Investigator (PI) are Dr. Yin Zhang, Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering and Petroleum Engineering Chair Abhijit Dandekar, respectively.
