On April 27, 2019, President Mustafa Babanli of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University visited CUPB, accompanied by Nijat Mammadli, Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. CUPB President Zhang Laibin met with Mustafa Babandre and his delegation, accompanied by the relevant leaders of the Academy of Education, Graduate School, Science and Technology Department, International office and the College of International Education.
Zhang Laibin welcomed the delegation's visit, introduced CUPB's college setup, academic advantages, characteristics of the university and its internationalization, especially its participation in the construction of "The Belt and Road Initiative" educational action. He stressed that during the second "The Belt and Road Initiative" International Cooperation summit held in Beijing, both countries' Ministers of the Ministry of Education met with each other, which has positive significance for promoting the in-depth cooperation between Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and CUPB. In the future, both sides will continue to expand new areas of cooperation and explore new cooperation models. To promote the quality of personnel training, achieving win-win and common development.
Mustafa Babanli introduced the history and running situation of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. He expressed that the university attached great importance to the cooperative relationship with CUPB and looked forward to further cooperation between the two sides in the aspects of two-way exchanges between teachers and students, joint training of students and tackling key scientific research issues.
At the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions and reached a preliminary consensus on the exchange of students at public-funded and the Worldwide Energy University Network.
After the meeting, Mustafa Babanli and his delegation also visited the National Key Laboratory for Oil and Gas Resources and Exploration, the National Key Laboratory for Heavy Oil and the Apartment for Foreign Students.
Prior to this visit, Jeyhun Bayramov, minister of Azerbaijan Ministry of Education was invited to China to participate in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and met with Chen Baosheng, minister of China Ministry of Education. Zhang Laibin and Mustafa Babanli also attended the meeting.
The Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University is a member of the Worldwide Energy University Network initiated by CUPB. Located in Baku, capital of Abu, the university was founded in 1920. It has seven colleges including geological exploration, oil and gas development, chemical technology, petroleum mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology and control, and economic management. It has more than 10,000 students, including 53 Chinese students.
