From May 13 to 17, 2019, the 4th Pushkin Youth Art Festival and Russian Cultural Week were held in CUPB. The activities are sponsored by CUPB and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, organized by CUPB’s International Office and College of International Education, and co-organized by the Academy of Education, Graduate School, Foreign Languages College, College of Network and Continuing Education and the College of Arts and Sciences of Karamay Campus. Many Russian learners, Russian cultural enthusiasts and foreign students from both Beijing and Karamay Campus of CUPB participated in the activities.
The Pushkin Youth Art Festival is a large-scale youth cultural competition sponsored by Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas since 1994 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Russian Federation. Since 2016, three consecutive sessions have been held in CUPB. This competition includes two parts: Russian proposition composition and creative competition. After fierce competition, the first, second and third prizes are finally selected. First prize winner Galas Hali will represent CUPB at the All-Russian Pushkin Youth Art Festival in Moscow in October this year.
During the of Russian Culture Week, CUPB planned and organized a series of activities, such as Russian University lectures, Russian oil painting appreciation culture classes, Russian study experience sharing meeting, Russian oil and gas geopolitics and diplomatic vision opening lectures, Russian film exhibition, Chinese and foreign student associations, to promote CUPB students’ understanding of the higher education of Russia and to promote the friendship with Russian students. The understanding of social culture stimulates students’ interest in studying in Russia and broadens their international horizons.
At present, CUPB has established cooperative relations with 17 Russian universities and institutions. Every year, a group of CUPB students will be sent to study at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University and other Russian universities through the State Overseas Study Fund.
