The WEUN International Summer School on Clean Energy Science and Technology successfully closed on June 28 after 20 days of intensive study. The closing ceremony was held in Conference Room A1120, the main building of China University of Petroleum (Beijing). The closing ceremony was presided over by Yao Jun, Deputy Secretary-General of the WEUN, Sun Xudong, Secretary-General of the WEUN, Wang Wei, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Machinery and Storage and Transport, relevant personnels from International Office, the Institute of Machinery and Storage and Transport Engineering, the School of Safety and Marine Engineering, and 19 students from 11 universities of seven countries including United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Brazil, Canada, Russia, etc., participated in the closing ceremony.
At the closing ceremony, students from Birmingham University, Leeds University and other member universities of WEUN made group reports. They expressed their feelings and experiences of Chinese culture in the past three weeks. Summary reports were focused on tea culture, architectural art, historic sites and energy-related lectures. By listening to energy-related professional reports given by the world-renowned professors in the field of energy, such as CO2 capture, artificial intelligence, clean energy, the latest scientific and technological development, the students are highly stimulated in thinking of today's clean energy science and technology. Through visiting Fuqing Nuclear Power Station and practicing in person, students witnessed the brilliant achievements of China's rapid development in the field of clean energy, and are full of confidence in the future development prospects of clean energy.
At the end of the report, Secretary-General Sun Xudong highly affirmed the excellent reports of the students. This year, CUPB hosted the WEUN International Summer School for the first time. It has been well planned in curriculum design, activity arrangement, safety standards, student exchanges, teacher-student interaction and cultural experience, with remarkable results. Through 20 days of activities, all the participants fully appreciated the long history and profound of Chinese culture, and also realized the brilliant achievements of modern science and technology in China, especially in the field of clean energy. Sun Xudong said that on the basis of this year's success, he would listen carefully to the suggestions of the students and make continuous improvements. Next year, he would continue to hold international summer school on the platform of WEUN. Finally, Sun Xudong, Wang Wei and Wang Jinjiang issued certificates to the first summer school students respectively.
