On December 14, China University of Petroleum–Beijing (CUP) and University of Aberdeen (UoA) held an online meeting on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools. The heads and staffs of International Office, College of Safety and Ocean Engineering and Provost Office were present. Richard Wells, Vice-Principal of UoA and other related staffs attended the meeting.
Richard Wells said that CUP was an important partner of UOA and they would attach great importance to and give strong support to the cooperated program between CUP and UoA, which would promote the collaboration between two sides.
At the meeting, the two sides confirmed Ocean Engineering as the major of the cooperated program, then discussed and reached a consensus on a serious of cooperation intentions, including time limit, degree granting, enrollment amount, budget and other aspects. The follow-up negotiation and agreement signing would be carried out gradually.
The two Universities believed that the program would definitely achieve a great success with the strength of both sides and the unique advantages in location of UoA, which lying in Aberdeen—the Energy Capital of Europe.
Founded in 1495, University of Aberdeen ranks among the top 200 in the world. Located in Aberdeen, the Energy Capital of Europe, the University is home to the Aberdeen Institute of Energy, a pioneer in Energy education globally and leading research centres in ‘Centre for Energy Law’, Engineering, Geosciences and Computing. As a member of WEUN, UoA has a good foundation for cooperation with CUP. The two universities signed a MOU in 2019.
Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools is an educational institution/program jointly organized by one Chinese educational institution and one foreign educational institution and launched within the territory of China to provide education service mainly to Chinese citizens. Appliers of the institution/program must pass the unified entrance examination. After several years of joint training, they will obtain diplomas issued by both Chinese and foreign cooperators. It is an excellent way to introduce foreign high-quality educational resources and let students enjoy international education at a lower cost.
