On May 29th, Yao Jun, Deputy Secretary General of WEUN paid a visit to USAR in Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). He Changzhong, the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of XJTU, Wei Xueyong, Deputy Directorof the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of XJTUand Liu Xiao, the head of International Office attended the meeting.
During the meeting, HeChangzhong made an introduction of UASR in terms of its alliance scale, management system, capital conditions, alliance activities, discipline development and future planning. UASR comprises 12 subordinate alliances with professional features, all of which are established by affiliated colleges of XJTU. Various activities of academic, instructional and cultural exchanges are conducted with other members in accordance with the discipline development.
Yao Jun appreciated the work of UASR, reviewed the achievements of WEUN since its inception two years ago. He also introduced the new members and future planning of the network. In addition, the two sides made a constructive discussion on the continuous promotion of exchanges and cooperation between the alliances,the operation mechanism of the rotating chairman and the responsibilities and obligations of the members. Finally, a consensuswas reached thatthe two sides should strengthen cooperation to achieve win-win results.
UASR, launched in XJTU in 2015, is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that aims to promote the openness of higher education and strengthen international cooperation in this regard. So far, the alliance includes nearly 151 universities from 38 countries and regions.
