The Global Energy Association (GEA), founded in 2002, is an internationally renowned non-profit organization focusing on the promotion and development of innovative international research programs in the field of global energy. It is primarily responsible for managing, coordinating and ultimately awarding the Global Energy Prize, and for implementing a number of other programs.
The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world's various and pressing energy challenges. The Global Energy Prize, founded in 2002, is awarded to the most accomplished minds in the research world. The honorees are awarded the Global Energy Prize by the President of the Russian Federation along with a prize of RUB 39 million. This year, the Global Energy Prize Award Ceremony will be held on October 3, 2019 within Russian Energy Week in Moscow (http://2019.globalenergyprize.org/en#about).
Aside from the Global Energy Prize, the Global Energy Association organizes the International Youth Programme (https://globalenergyprize.org/en/our-projects/international-youth-programme) to support young scientists in various energy spheres on an annual basis.
Every year since 2012, the association has been holding the Global Energy Prize Summit (https://globalenergyprize.org/en/summit/2019). It is a center for discussion of the most promising energy trends, raising public awareness of pressing issues of the sphere, and making expert predictions.
