CUPB CIE students visited Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Develo

On the morning of November 1st, 22 CUPB CIE students from Kazakhstan and South Sudan were invited to visit Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) by the International Department of China National Petroleum Corporation and RIPED. Deputy general manager of the international department of CNPC Wang Hongtao and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and deputy chief engineer of RIPED Liu He had an informal discussion with teachers and students from College of International Education CUPB.

In his speech, academician Liu He, on behalf of RIPED, welcomed international students from CUPB and reviewed the deep relationship and close cooperation between RIPED and CUPB. Wang Hongtao, deputy general manager, recalled his visit to CUPB in June this year. He said he was glad to meet the students again and on the latest progress of China-Kazakhstan and China-South Sudan oil cooperation, encouraged everyone to learn Chinese and professional knowledge so that after graduation, could play an active role in the oil industry.


On behalf of the College of International Education and CUPB, Dean Zhang Yongxue thanked International Department of CNPC and RIPED for the opportunity of communication and study. He introduced the development history of international student education of CUPB and the recent work of education college and hoped to further strengthen school-enterprise cooperation and jointly cultivate international talents.

At the symposium, participants watched the video about the 60th anniversary of the RIPED. After the discussion, jointly visited the achievement exhibition about the 60th anniversary of the RIPED, Oil and gas accumulation laboratory, oil and gas geochemical LABS, Nano oil and gas laboratory and National key laboratory for enhanced recovery and other research facilities.

Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, founded in 1958, is a comprehensive research institution of CNPC for the global oil and gas exploration and development, mainly working on global oil and gas business development strategic planning research, oil and gas exploration and development of major applied basic theory and technology research and development, the global oil and gas business production technical services, technical support and high level of science and technology personnel training and other duties, with abundant talents, good reaserch conditions and fruitful research results.


The International Department of CNPC has good cooperation relationship with CUPB in the field of joint cultivation of international students. From 2011 to 2015, the International Department of the group selected and funded 85 students from Kazakhstan and South Sudan. Among them, there are 69 students from Kazakhstan and 60 have graduated. 16 students from South Sudan and five have graduated.
