Research Methods Lecture
On Thursday November 9, 2017 the International Students Academic Innovation Platform (ISAIP) held a lecture on ‘Research Methods’, the last in a series of trainings for this Academic semester. The lecture was given by Abimelech Paye Gbatu who is a doctoral degree candidate and a student at the Department of Management Science and Engineering of the College of Business Administration of China University of Petroleum – Beijing (CUPB).
The main focus of the lecture was on components of a research or academic paper, research design, and substances that give novelty to an academic article/paper so as to attract editors’ and readers’ attentions. This was particularly an urgently needed lecture because most students are approaching the time of writing thesis proposals and sometimes encounter challenges in producing academic writings of a very high quality.
The lecture was broken down into four parts namely;
i) What is a Research?
ii) What is a Research Method?
iii) Organization of the research work.
iv) Questions and Conclusive remarks.
Each of the different parts was explained at length and the session was kept interactive through questions about their understanding or thoughts about the topic at hand at each stage of the presentation. The lecture was concluded by inviting the audience to ask questions which were all answered.
We would like to thank the attendees of the lecture, the members of ISAIP who always spare no efforts to make such events a success. Special thanks go to Dr. Gbatu who delivered a very impressive and eye-opening lecture that will contribute to the academic achievements of many students for years to come. We further wish him all the best on his upcoming doctoral thesis defense and in his work for years to come.
