First Round of Academic lectures during the first semester of the 2018-2019 acad

On the 14th of December 2018, the International Students’ Academic and Innovation Platform (ISAIP) in collaboration with the College of International Education (CIE) conducted a round of academic presentations for the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019. This session was composed of five lectures, presented by talented Master and Ph.D. students. Before the starting of the meeting, the president of the ISAIP, Mr. MAREMBO Micheal, welcomed all the guests and gave a brief introduction of the presenters to the audience.

The first presentation was made by Miss Mariya Tsoy, a first-year Master student in Finance who gave a sharp lecture about the trends of the Russian Economy. She was followed by another distinguished first-year Master student in Finance, Mr. Mark Oleinik, who made a presentation about the Influence of Gazprom’s export monopoly on Russia’s domestic gas market, by using a mathematical model to simulate the economic impact and its consequences.

The third presentation was given by Mr. Alisher Raimov a first-year Master student in Finance who gave a presentation about the determinants of FDI inflows for an empirical study in Greece. He succinctly introduced the Foreign Direct Investment equation employed in his econometric model.

Mr. Orkhan Mammadov, a third-year master student in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering made the fourth presentation. He showed the different problems and solutions of the 3D geological reservoir modeling of the Daniudi tight gas sandstone reservoir.

The final lecture was given by Mr. Khaled Albrike a first-year Ph.D. student in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering who made an outstanding presentation about the application of reconstructing the history of the petroleum charge in the sedimentary basin. His presentation covered a wide range of topics, petroleum- and geology-related, from the genesis of the oil at the source rock, up to the depiction of the sedimentary basin’s evolution.

The conclusion of each presentation was followed by a QA session, where the audience actively inquired the presenters, in order to further understand the different themes that were being discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the students elected the best presenter. The first prize was awarded to Mr. Khaled Albrike and the second prize was obtained by Mr. Orkhan Mammadov. On the other hand, Miss Mariya Tsoy, Mr. Mark Oleinik and Mr. Alisher Raimov each of them won the third prize. All the presenters received encouragements from the Vice Dean of the College of International Education (CIE), Miss Xiaoqing Liu.

The evening meeting closure included a photo session taken by the presenters, members of the International Students’ Academic and Innovation Platform (ISAIP), College of International Education (CIE) representative, and all the students in the audience.
