English and Chinese Riddles
Riddles are one of the beauties of learning a language, they are statements, questions, pictures or even phrases having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved.
Together we solved the riddles and explained the meanings behind them, even went further learning different ways those words could be expressed.
Try this: Paul’s height is six feet, he’s an assistant at a butcher’s shop, and wears size 9 shoes. What does Paul weigh?
The Brick Game
The brick game is not just a game for fun but also a game that brings out the coordination in oneself, deserve some critical thinking and coordinated mind to pull out the right brick and save the building.
To play this game we divided the class to a team of A, B, C, D, E. The game progressed orderly till the 4th round and the team D lost the game. They had to sing as a compensation to the class.
Idiomatic phrase
Idioms are like salt to languages, it is a phrase that has a figurative or sometimes literal meaning. Idioms exist in every language, it is commonly used by the owners of the language, just as “kick the bucket” has nothing to do with life but it means “to die”.
Try this: At the drop of a hat.
Third game: “30 seconds”
The game called 30 seconds is a word game containing words, prases and names. Just like the first game, the teams choose a member who try to illustrate the words using a definition or a similar word while the team members try to answer correctly the word on the paper in 30second.
This game helps to improve our vocabularies and expand the knowledge we already have on a particular word.
