International Students Participate in the 3rd International Oil Development Tech

    On October 18, 2018, 23 International students from China University of Petroleum, Beijing (CUPB) were selected to participate in the 3rd  International Oil Development Technology Conference dubbed “Technological Innovation Boosts the stable production of Offshore Oil and Gas”. The Conference was held at The CNOOC collective convergence Training Center in the Report hall and it featured various professionals and academicians from the oil and gas industry including Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professors from Imperial College London, the University of Texas.

CUPB students arrived at the hotel around 7:45 am and were warmly welcomed by the Conference committee. They were led straight to the Hotel’s Cafeteria to take a special breakfast prepared by the conference committee. CUPB students were seated at the conference hall around 8:10 am to witness the opening session of the conference led by Zhou Shouwei.  Zhou Shouwei who served as chairman for the event beautifully introduced and welcomed all guest speakers and participants of the Conference. His speech was ended by a round of applause.

The first lecture of the conference was given by Zhang Jian around 8:30 am, from CNOOC Research Institute. He presented on the Development and Thinking on Efficient Development Technology of Offshore heavy Oil. The Second lecture was given by Krister Axel Holmberg, a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering; Fellow of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Gothenburg. He presented on control of Phase Behavior in polymer assisted surfactant flooding. The 3rd lecture was given by Gao Deli, a Professor from CUPB. He gave a presentation on “Some Research Advances in Deep Water Drilling”. A break session was taken between 10:05 am to 10:20 am.

The 2nd session of the conference started around 10:30 am. Alain C. Gringarten, a professor from Imperial College, London gave the 4th presentation on “Everything you always wanted to know about well test analysis. Song Kaoping, a professor from Northeast Petroleum University gave the 5th presentation on “Remaining Oil Distribution and Potential tapping method under the Influence of Gravity”. Bai Baojun, professor from Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA, gave the sixth presentation on Advance and Prospects of Conformance Control Technologies. The last lecture was given by Zhang Jinqing, a researcher from CNOOC Research Institute Co. Ltd. All the speakers were given only 30minutes for presentation and question answering, and all speakers gave an up to date lecture on their chosen field and all the presentations were ended by a standing ovation and a round of applause.

CUPB Students learned a lot from the top professionals in the petroleum sector and shared with the top innovators in the industry. Students were given conference souvenirs and the opportunity to take Photos and interact with the invited speakers. There was lunch for the students after the last session of the conference.

CUPB students finally left the premises around2pm and arrived on campus around 3 pm.
