Arrangement and Notice of 2025 Winter Vacation

For your safety during the holiday, we kindly remind you some tips as following. Please read them carefully and inform each other. Wish you enjoy a safe and happy holiday!

I. Winter vacation time

From January 15 to February 23, 2025

The school will be on holiday from January 15, 2025 (Thursday), and the teachers in the offices of the college of International Education will take turns on duty. Please notice that classes will start on February 24th, 2025, make your plan accordingly, and don’t be absent from your classes.

II、Regulations and Policies

1. All international students MUST comply with Chinese laws and regulations and CUPB’s policies.

2. Please pay attention to the expiration date of your passport and visa. Students needing to extend their visas must first contact Office 207 to obtain visa application materials before proceeding to the immigration office for extension services (Students whose visas expire before February 4 must complete their visa applications by January 27).

3. Comply with relevant local laws and regulations. Any violation of national laws, ordinances, and statutes will result in legal penalties from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice, and, depending on the severity of the offense, will be given a serious warning which could lead to expulsion from CUPB. Of special note are common violations such as illegal working with student visa, visa expiration, unruly behavior due to alcohol, and disturbing the peace when staying off campus.

4. Please abide by all traffic regulations and pay close attention to traffic safety. Driving motor vehicles or electric motorcycle without license, or driving while intoxicated is not allowed, and shall be penalized according to Chinese laws and regulations. When riding an electric motorcycle with a certificate, do not speed, do not carry people, do not retrograde, stop in the designated area near the school gate after entering the school, do not ride in the school. If riding a bicycle, do not go against traffic or run red lights.

5. It is prohibited to set off fireworks and firecrackers (including sky lanterns, cold light fireworks, and handheld fireworks). Beijing has implemented a citywide ban on fireworks since Jan 1, 2022.

Those who illegally produce, sell, store or transport fireworks and firecrackers without permission will be punished by the production safety supervision and management, industrial and commercial administration, public security and transportation administration departments in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

If the setting off of fireworks and firecrackers causes damage to state or collective property, or causes personal injury or property loss to others, the person who committed the act shall bear liability for compensation in accordance with the law; if the act constitutes a violation of public security management, the public security organs shall handle it in accordance with the law; if it constitutes a crime, the criminal liability shall be pursued in accordance with the law.

6. Complete the destination report. Before the holiday begins, all students need to complete the destination statistics form, reporting whether you will stay on campus during the holiday and where you will go after leaving school. (Scan the QR code below to fill in the report form)

Ⅲ、Travelling Safety Tips for Students

1. Before you leave the school, please turn off all your electrical devices and remove plugs to prevent accidents such as fire.

2. Pay attention to the safety of transportation, food, personal property, and strengthen the awareness of self-protection and safety prevention, and timely call the counselor teachers in case of emergency.

3. Pay attention to traffic safety: Obey traffic rules when going out, travel in a civilized and safe manner, use crosswalks, overpasses or underground passages when crossing the road, and pay attention to passing vehicles; do not take unlicensed, unregistered, overloaded or other illegal operating vehicles to prevent traffic accidents. Pay attention to weather forecasts and take precautions against secondary disasters caused by extreme weather such as heavy snow, strong winds, low temperatures, and icy roads.

4. Pay attention to food hygiene and safety: Prevent all kinds of respiratory diseases in winter and do not eat expired or spoiled food. During the trip, please choose regular restaurants with safe environment and good hygiene conditions to eat, and drink moderately when gathering or dining.Avoid accidental injuries caused by traffic accidents, drowning, natural disasters, food poisoning, crowding and trampling.

5. Pay attention to personal property protection: take care of your belongings when you go out, and do not store cash and valuables in the dormitory; Be vigilant against scams and pyramid schemes, and guard against all kinds of traps; Be cautious when communicating with strangers and be vigilant to avoid being deceived. Do not accept any form of sales and strictly adhere to personal information. It is necessary to properly keep the valid personal documents, do not lend personal documents to others, and carry copies of valid documents with you when you go out.

6. Enhance network security awareness: Pay attention to preventing telecom network fraud, do not click on unknown links, do not trust strange calls, do not disclose personal information, and do not participate in online non-performing loans. In case of transfer and remittance, you should verify more, and report to the police in time if you find any problems.

7. Complete accommodation registration in time. In China, you should register your accommodation address at the nearest police station within 24 hours after arriving at your new accommodation.

‌Ⅳ. Notes for Students Staying on Campus

1. Dormitory opening and closing times: Open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 11:00 p.m.

2. Consciously maintain dormitory security. Do not lend the room keys to others or ask others to keep them, do not let other person to stay in your room. If you have noticed any suspicious person, please report to the staffs in time.

3. Carefully use the electricity and water. Do not cook food in the room, do not use prohibited electrical appliances such as electric blankets, electric stove. If any abnormality is found, please contact the front desk aunt at the first time.

4. Watch out for fire. Winter is a fire prone period, Do not smoke in the dorm and do not throw your cigarette butt away randomly. Fireworks are prohibited.

V. School service guarantee arrangement

1. During the winter vacation, the number of people will be reduced, and some school doors will be closed. The North Gate of the North Campus, the South Gate of the East Campus (January 17th ~ February 5th), and the Southwest Gate of the South campus (January 28th ~ February 5th) will be temporarily closed.

2. In addition, when visiting the school, teachers, staff and off-campus personnel must take the initiative to cooperate with the staff for identity verification before entering the school, and it is prohibited to follow or break through the gate.

3. Library opening time

According to the winter vacation schedule of the school in 2025, the library will be open for winter vacation from January 17th to February 20th, and will resume normal opening from February 21st.

4. During the winter vacation, the reading room in the main building is open every day from 7:00 to 22:00. Please select your seat through the seat reservation machine and turn off the desk lamp before leaving your study seat.

5. Restaurant service: The first and second floor of the first canteen and the first floor of the third canteen resumed business on February 18th, and the other canteens and stalls resumed business on February 20th.

10. School hospital schedule

During the holidays, the university hospital will arrange a doctor on duty every day, and the opening hours are: 8:30-11:00, 14:30-17:00 (closed from January 28th to January 31st)

11. Repair service: The apartment property provides all day maintenance services for everyone. When problems occur, please contact the apartment property in time. At the same time, please try to handle non-emergency affairs during the day to avoid disturbing other students at night during maintenance.
