In the morning of the 6th June 2019, Prof. Saule Aidarova from Kazakh-British Technical University of Kazakhstan (KBTU), a member of Worldwide Energy University Network (WEUN), visited the WEUN Secretariat at China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB). Yao Jun, Deputy Secretary-General, and WEUN Secretariat staff attended the meeting.
Yao Jun warmly welcomed Saule Aidarova and passed warm greetings from Sun Xudong (Secretary-General) to her. Yao introduced the activities of WEUN since the establishment of WEUN and 2019 work plan. Saule Aidarova highly spoke of the recent work done by WEUN Secretariat, and then shared KBTU development and achievements obtained over past years through its working with petroleum industry and explained some interesting international student activities organized by KBTU. At the meeting, cooperation proposals of mutual interests were discussed, including students exchange, joint research laboratory, exchange visit by principals of the two institutions, and joint student academic and social activities under the framework of WEUN. Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) was established by Resolution No 1027 of the RK Government dated August 3, 2001, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the RK Ministry of Education and Science and the British Council. On behalf of Kazakhstan, the founder is the RK Government and the authorized agency is the RK Ministry of Education and Science. The university is offering education programs and conducting research in the areas of geology and oil and gas engineering, information technology, mathematics and cybernetics, maritime studies, chemical engineering,business and several others.
