Recently, Prof. Ocone Raffaella (Heriot-Watt University) met Dr. Jun Yao, the Deputy Secretary General of Worldwide Energy University Network (WEUN) at Edinburgh during UK-China International Particle Technology Forum VII.
Yao passed the warm greetings to Ocone from Laibin Zhang, the Chairman of WEUN, as well as Xudong Sun, the Secretary General of WENU, and expressed the thanks to Heriot-Watt University for its long-term support for WEUN. Yao presented several successful activities performed at CUPB since WEUN establishment in Sept. 2018 (such as WEUN Summer School) and foresaw work plans for 2020. At the same time Yao invited Ocone to participate in WEUN future activities. Ocone recalled the wonderful moment of the opening ceremony of WEUN she attended at CUPB in 2018. She shared happy experience of research collaboration with CUPB and indicated that she would be happy to make contribution to WEUN as well as academic collaboration with CUPB. In addition, she shared some latest successful experience of international network carried out at Heriot-Watt University. Furthermore, Yao and Ocone made in-depth discussion on several issues including WEUN annual meeting 2020, international academic forum, students and faculties exchange, summer school and academic collaborations.
Professor Raffaella Ocone obtained her first degree in Chemical Engineering from the Università di Napoli, Italy and her MA and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, USA. She holds the Chair of Chemical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University (HWU) since 1995. She is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Institution of Chemical Engineers, and the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2007 she was conferred the title of Cavaliere (Knighthood) of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity from the Italian Republic. In The Queen’s 2019 New Year Honours she was appointed OBE for services to engineering.
