From August 17 to 24, Han Shangfeng, Vice-Chancellor (VC) and Vice-President (VP) of China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), led a delegation team to visit Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. They visited WEUN member universities including the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) and the International University of Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan, and also went to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) and local oil industries. Directors of the Petroleum Engineering Institute, the Employment Guidance Center and the International Office joined this visit.
At KBTU, VC/VP Han and his team met Kenzhebek Ibrashev (the President of KBTU), Gulzada Shakulikova (the Vice-President of KBTU for Academics), and Maratbek Gabdullin (the Vice-President of KBTU for Research. Han first introduced the basic situation of CUPB and the progress of the Worldwide Energy University Network (WEUN). He also showed his thanks to KBTU for her long-term support for WEUN. Both sides reached common agreement on strengthening cooperation on short-term student exchange program, summer school, joint research on oil field development technology in Kazakhstan, and co-construction on the "Belt and Road Initiative" Institute of Oil and Gas Engineers. Kenzhebek Ibrashev happily recalled the impression of last year when he came to Beijing attending the WEUN founding ceremony on behalf of KBTU. He fully affirmed the achievements obtained by WEUN since her establishment. Finally, he signed the revised version of WEUN Constitution on behalf of KBTU. After the meeting, VC/VP Han and his colleagues visited the Laboratory of Solar Nanomaterials and teaching laboratory of navigation simulator.
At KazNU, Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev (first Vice-President of KazNU) welcome VC/VP Han and his delegation on behalf of KazNU. He expressed strong willing to join WEUN.
In Turkmenistan, Han Shangfeng and his delegation visited the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the International University of Petroleum and Gas of Turkmenistan (WEUN member). They met Rasulow Purli, representative of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, and Batyr Meretdurdyevich Mammedov (Vice-President of the International University of Petroleum and Natural Gas of Turkmenistan). During the meeting, both sides made in-depth discussion and reached common cooperation intentions including joint-training of students, exchanged program for faculties and students, research cooperation, humanistic communicationand the Worldwide Energy University Network.
